The story

iLink cables are normally cut from Cardas headphone cable: four 23.5 AWG Cardas Litz conductors with Golden Ratio stranding and PFA insulation in a shielded star quad bound in carbon-impregnated FEP tape, under a TPR jacket. The standard build is a 3.5 mm TRS plug to a pair of male RCAs.

Cardas also offers custom and balanced configurations, and can build iLink from any of its shielded four-conductor cables, including phono cables and some interconnects — ask us for a quote.

Measure from the source to the amplifier's RCA inputs along the real path and round up to the next half metre. For a 4.4 mm or 2.5 mm balanced source output, ask us about a custom balanced iLink. Longer than 5 m? Cardas prices custom lengths by formula; call us for a quote.

Key technologies

  • Ultra Pure Cardas Copper. Grade 1, 99.9999% pure oxygen-free copper, drawn and annealed slowly through silver dies, then given a single poly-nylon coat to prevent oxidation and crosstalk between strands.
  • Golden Ratio scaled Litz conductors. Multi-stranded conductors in which each layer of strands steps up in size by 1:1.618 from the centre outward, a Cardas patent that controls strand resonance.
  • Shielded star-quad. Four conductors bound in carbon-impregnated FEP tape under a flexible TPR jacket.
  • Made in Bandon, Oregon. Every Cardas cable is built and hand terminated at the Cardas factory on the southern Oregon coast and carries the Cardas lifetime cable warranty.
