The story

Clear Network uses eight 24 AWG conductors of Grade 1, 99.9999% pure Cardas copper arranged as four shielded pairs, each pair with its own drain wire. The bundle is wrapped in a foil shield and then a braided shield, and jacketed in flexible TPR.

With network drives and high-resolution streaming now the norm, Cardas built it for more speed and bandwidth and less noise between switch, router and streamer. It is terminated with Telegärtner RJ45 plugs in Bandon, Oregon.

Measure from the switch or router to the streamer along the real path and round up; long runs to another room can be ordered beyond 4.5 m. Shielded RJ45 plugs ground the shield at both ends; most streamers and audiophile switches accept them.

Key technologies

  • Ultra Pure Cardas Copper. Grade 1, 99.9999% pure oxygen-free copper, drawn and annealed slowly through silver dies, then given a single poly-nylon coat to prevent oxidation and crosstalk between strands.
  • Four shielded pairs. Each twisted pair carries its own drain wire, so the pairs are isolated from one another as well as from outside noise.
  • Foil and braid. The bundle is wrapped in a foil shield and then an overall braided shield under a flexible TPR jacket.
  • Telegärtner RJ45. Shielded Telegärtner plugs, terminated by hand in Bandon.
  • Made in Bandon, Oregon. Every Cardas cable is built and hand terminated at the Cardas factory on the southern Oregon coast and carries the Cardas lifetime cable warranty.
