Clear Beyond Power XL

Cardas · Clear Beyond

Cardas's most sophisticated power cable: Clear Beyond Power scaled up to 9 AWG with per-conductor shielding and a toroidal ground filter that extends the ground path to three times the cable's length.

Price is for one hand-terminated power cable.

To make Clear Beyond Power XL, Cardas took Clear Beyond Power and scaled everything up: bigger 9 AWG tin-plated conductors, each with its own shield and multiple lay lengths, better overall shielding and improved noise filtering. A toroidal ground filter is built into the termination and works with a ground-leg extension that lengthens the path to ground to three times the cable, a geometry Cardas says could only come from George Cardas.

It is designed to give the largest, most power-hungry amplifiers clean, high current while also giving sensitive sources stable, noise-free power. It is terminated with Cardas's premium E-5 connectors, whose contact surfaces are silver/rhodium-plated solid copper.

Key technologies

  • Ground-leg extension. A toroidal ground filter in the termination works with a ground-leg extension system that triples the length of the path to ground, Cardas's most elaborate noise filtering.
  • Ultra Pure Cardas Copper. Grade 1, 99.9999% pure oxygen-free copper, drawn and annealed slowly through silver dies, then given a single poly-nylon coat to prevent oxidation and crosstalk between strands.
  • Golden Ratio scaled Litz conductors. Multi-stranded conductors in which each layer of strands steps up in size by 1:1.618 from the centre outward, a Cardas patent that controls strand resonance.
  • Double shielded. Tin-plated copper and magnet-wire shields around the whole cable keep radiated noise out of the system.
  • Cardas power connectors. Cardas E-5 premium plugs, with silver/rhodium-plated solid copper contacts, soldered and crimped.
  • Made in Bandon, Oregon. Every Cardas cable is built and hand terminated at the Cardas factory on the southern Oregon coast, and carries a transferable lifetime warranty.

Choosing length and terminations

  • Measure from the wall outlet or power strip to the component's IEC inlet along the real path, and round up; a power cord should never hang under tension.
  • Most components use a 15 A IEC C15 inlet. Choose the 20 A C19 end only for amplifiers and power strips with the larger 20 A socket.
  • Cardas supplies a US NEMA 5-15 wall plug as standard; Schuko (EU) and other plugs are available to order.
  • Longer than 5 m? Cardas prices custom lengths by formula — call us for a quote.
