Sonus faber's wide-baffle classic, rebuilt: an elliptical cabinet, twin 10-inch woofers and 92 dB sensitivity, for a vast, effortless soundstage.

Stradivari G2 keeps the shape that sets it apart from the rest of the Homage range: a broad, elliptical front baffle rather than a narrow lute. A 28 mm DAD Arrow Point tweeter and a 6-inch neodymium midrange sit in a sealed Intono chamber, and two 10-inch woofers with a new dual-gap motor fire into a woofer chamber with non-parallel walls. A low-frequency adjuster offers three settings to tune the deep bass to the room, and the crossover uses Sonus faber's Phase Coherent IFF topology.

The wide baffle and large radiating area give it a big, enveloping stage and an easy way with orchestral peaks. At 92 dB it is efficient, but its 25 Hz reach and 4 Ω load call for a large room and a capable amplifier; Sonus faber recommends 100 to 600 W. Use the low-frequency adjuster to match it to the room.

Key technologies

• Elliptical cabinet. The wide baffle widens the soundstage and maximizes low-frequency output.
• Dual-gap woofers. A new motor design balances force and lowers the distortion of conventional magnetic circuits.
• Low-frequency adjuster. Three settings, selected with a jumper, damp the driver's resonance without a resistor in the signal path.
• Clepsydra reflex. An hourglass-shaped, down-firing port, with non-parallel woofer-chamber walls to suppress standing waves.
• Intono. A calibrated internal structure in the sealed midrange chamber reduces acoustic pressure in a chosen frequency range, for a cleaner midrange.
