MC255 Power Amplifier

The McIntosh MC255 is a five-channel solid-state power amplifier for multichannel systems. It supplies 250 watts to each of the three front channels when those channels are used alone, or 200 watts to each of five channels when the complete amplifier is operating.

Dynamic Power Manager maintains the stated power across 4- and 8-ohm loudspeakers, while the TripleView meter displays the three front-channel outputs together. Five balanced and five unbalanced inputs, configurable two-zone operation, Power Guard, and Sentry Monitor support flexible theater and distributed-system layouts.

Three Important Features

  • Flexible five-channel output: The amplifier prioritizes the three front channels or powers all five channels together.
  • TripleView meter: One front-panel display shows the output of the three principal channels.
  • Two-zone capability: The channels can be allocated as three channels in one zone and two in another.

Three Important Specifications

  • Power output: 250 watts x 3 front channels, or 200 watts x 5 channels, into 4 or 8 ohms.
  • Total harmonic distortion: 0.005%.
  • Frequency response: +0/-0.25dB from 20Hz to 20kHz; +0/-3dB from 10Hz to 100kHz.
