MC2301 Power Amplifier

The McIntosh MC2301 is a 300-watt vacuum-tube monoblock designed to power one loudspeaker channel. Eight KT88 or 6550 output tubes feed a Unity Coupled Circuit Output Transformer, providing the rated output at dedicated 2-, 4-, or 8-ohm connections.

Two 12AT7 tubes serve the voltage-amplifier stage, while the Quad Balanced circuit arrangement and Sentry Monitor support stable operation. Balanced and unbalanced inputs, front-panel metering, and Power Control make the MC2301 suitable for a matched monoblock system.

Three Important Features

  • 300-watt tube monoblock: Each chassis powers one loudspeaker channel.
  • Unity Coupled output stage: Dedicated transformer connections support 2-, 4-, and 8-ohm loudspeakers.
  • Quad Balanced architecture: The circuit uses a balanced arrangement around the tube output stage.

Three Important Specifications

  • Tube complement: Output: eight KT88 or 6550; voltage-amplifier stage: two 12AT7.
  • Power output: 300 watts into 2, 4, or 8 ohms.
  • Frequency response: +0/-0.5dB from 20Hz to 20kHz; +0/-3dB from 10Hz to 100kHz.
