The Aurender AP20 combines a network music server, DAC, analog preamplifier, headphone amplifier and dual-mono power amplifier in a single chassis. Its power stage uses Purifi Class D modules, while volume control is handled by an analog R2R relay network rather than in the digital domain. Aurender’s streaming platform, multiple digital and analog inputs, balanced outputs and master-clock input make the AP20 unusually complete.
The appeal of the AP20 is consolidation without reducing the quality of the individual functions. It can replace a streamer, DAC, preamplifier and power amplifier while retaining the control and library-management strengths of a dedicated Aurender source. For systems where fewer boxes, shorter signal paths and simpler operation are priorities, it offers a particularly clean way to build a high-level digital system around one central component.
