The converter is a pair of ROHM BD34302EKV chips, the current top of ROHM's audio line, each handling one channel. Luxman has used ROHM silicon since the D-10X and works closely with the company; the BD34302 carries ROHM's sound-quality logic at the IC level and here is run in mono mode for the best channel separation and lowest noise. PCM arrives over USB at up to 32-bit\/768 kHz and DSD at up to 22.5 MHz; the coaxial and optical inputs take 24-bit\/192 kHz and DSD64 over DoP. Three PCM filters and two DSD filters are selectable from the remote.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"margin:0 0 12px\"\u003eThe analog output stage is where the D-100 departs from Luxman's earlier players. It is built around LIFES 1.1, the feedback engine from the L-100 CENTENNIAL amplifier, which feeds back only the detected distortion component and parallels the differential detection stage at its input. The specifications reflect it: 0.0006% distortion from USB, 0.0007% from SACD, and a signal-to-noise ratio of 125 dB on every input. Two low-jitter clock circuits using ultra-low-phase-noise oscillators serve the 44.1 and 48 kHz families, USB is asynchronous and managed by a dedicated DSP, and the S\/PDIF inputs use Luxman's DAIR clock control.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"margin:0 0 12px\"\u003eThe mechanism is the LxDTM-i, Luxman's own disc transport, built as a rigid box from 8 mm aluminum side frames, a 5 mm steel top and an 8 mm aluminum base, integrated with the chassis and placed on the left so that the analog circuitry has room on the right and the signal path stays short. The tray has a dust-proof shutter. The power supply is a CI-core transformer with independent left and right rectification and regulation and 40,000 µF of filter capacitance. Boards are peel-coated, wiring is OFC, RCA outputs are on 22 mm pitch and the XLRs are Neutrik.
